DIGITALLY-CONNECTED CONSTRUCTION SITES
Continually evolving digital technology has changed the way people work across many industries, but with the construction sector so notoriously slow to adapt to change, this can have a negative impact on contractors under increasing pressure to deliver projects on time and on budget. We looked at the importance of technology on site and how access to information is critical to ensure efficient project delivery and how strong Internet connectivity is critical to achieving this.
We’ve seen a huge surge in demand for our service in recent months as digital construction has become an integral part of the built environment. Construction site teams are utilising technology in order to stay connected and keep in touch as people have been forced to adapt their traditional working practices.
The biggest change that we have seen in recent months is the massive increase in sites who have incorporated video conferencing into their everyday site life. We have all had to get used to video calls rather than face to face meetings, making sure we are un-muted and that the cat doesn’t climb across the keyboard! Out on site this huge increase in video conferencing applications, such as Teams and Zoom, has allowed sites to stay connected with members of their team who are working from home, for Management who are keeping travel to sites to a minimum and ensuring stakeholders remain involved. However, as fantastic a tool as these applications are, they are only as good as the Internet connection that you use.
We have listened to clients as they came to us with similar project critical problems: the way they’ve always done it is no longer good enough. They’re increasingly frustrated at not being able to get work done, download drawings – they are struggling to even send emails never mind being able to carry out video calls! It leaves them a step behind competitors, requires trips back to head office to finish work and it ultimately is costing them time and money in delays.
Digitally Connected
Our service was purpose built to cope with these demands and our construction clients up and down the country have been able to adapt and really take advantage of being a digitally connected site and using digital applications. As we are set to adapt to these new ways of working for quite some time to come – are you confident that you have an Internet service that is able to cope?
If you are finding that your regular Internet offering isn’t cutting it – don’t worry! Just get in touch and we’ll see how we help. We’re proud to say there is nothing regular about us!
